President’s Letter

Dear volunteers, donors, friends, and funders,

As we do every year we deliver you this Annual Activity Report, a summary of some of the actions FABRE carried out throughout the year 2025. We hope you like it and that we can share with you the joy of doing our small part in this wasteland of helping others. Each project, each initiative carries inside the seed of the fight against poverty. As Pope Leo XIV states: “There are many forms of poverty: the poverty of those who lack material means of subsistence, the poverty of those who are socially marginalized and lack the means to give voice to their dignity and abilities, moral and spiritual poverty, cultural poverty, the poverty of those who find themselves in a condition of personal or social weakness or fragility, the poverty of those who have no rights, no space, no freedom.” (DT 9).

In FABRE, we insist as well on promoting a change of mind that may have an impact on cultural transformation, since the illusion of happiness derived from a comfortable life pushes many people towards a vision of life centered on the accumulation of wealth and social success at all costs, even at the expense of others and by taking advantage of unjust social ideals and political-economic systems that favor the strongest (cf. DT 11). This affects us all. We know that through your solidarity you are helping to bring about this gradual, slow but effective change, which reaches everywhere through small acts of kindness directed toward those who are suffering in some way. This current will be a force that will change the reality surrounding us.

Furthermore, we consider a terrible shortcoming the lack of peace, as peace is paramount for any human being to set out on the path of development. “Peace is not a spiritual utopia: it is a humble path, made up of daily gestures that interweave patience and courage, listening and action…” (Leo XIV 17-VI-2025). That is why true peace lies also in our hands; thus, by being sowers of peace, we will succeed in changing the world.

From FABRE, through the work we have accomplished thanks to all of your support, we are committed to this fight to restore dignity to every person.

With these thoughts in mind, we would like to thank you all and send each of you our warmest greetings.
