Women associate producers with sustainable enterprises empower themselves and strengthen their organizations in Bolivia with AYNI

The project, which started on December 31st, 2024 and is funded by La Caixa Foundation, generates an opportunity for self-employment in the agriculture and livestock sector for 86 female household heads grouped in La Merced association from the community of Cahuayuma —dedicated to the cultivation of vegetables in greenhouses— and in the Women Group from Huaricana Baja —dedicated to the cultivation of commercial flowers. It seeks two outcomes:

1st outcome:

Women entrepreneurs sustainably increase the net income of their enterprises while caring for the environment. Activities:

  • Building and equipment of greenhouses, vegetable and flower processing centers.
  • Workshops for the incorporation of good ecological practices in vegetable and flower production
  • Workshop on good practices in vegetable processing, update of the vegetable sale and purchase contract with the vegetable trading company.
  • Workshop on good practices in commercial flower processing, support for direct sales to consumers in the avenues leading to the residential neighborhoods in the Municipality.
  • Participation in a productive fair and a fair of entrepreneurship in the Metropolitan area
  • Workshop to calculate the net income of the enterprise at the beginning and the end of the project.

2nd outcome:

The producers’ associations of La Merced of Cahuayuma and the Women’s Group of Huaricana Baja have been strengthened. Activities:

  • Workshops on statutes and regulations to obtain legal personality and procedures.
  • Workshop on gender equality and human rights.
  • Workshops on redistribution of domestic workload.
  • Workshops on the operation and maintenance plan of the Cahuayuma irrigation committee.
