Dear volunteers, donors, and private and public entities which have been supporting us for so long:
As I do every year I am sending you FABRE’s Annual Activity Report, along with some thoughts I would like to share with you.
Let us bring to the present the assertion made by the Holy Father Paul VI in his 1967 Encyclical Letter “Populorum Progressio”, in which he considered that development is the new name for peace.
No one can deny, indeed, that peace is the sine qua non and the only possible context for authentic and sustainable development. In my opinion, our conflict-ridden world is the strongest hindrance and the greatest challenge to the authentic and lasting realization of a just society.
The creation of peaceful communities and nations is more important and fundamental than funding to end poverty, hunger, or lack of education. Because war is the denial of every Human Right and the possibility of integral and lasting development.
That is the reason why the current situation, full of conflict, demands a personal thought that leads us to an individual improvement. The attitude we have on a daily basis, with our small and personal conflicts, will influence, and a great deal, the atmosphere of peace and progress that today’s world needs. The world is built by the sum of many few, and we are each responsible for doing whatever we can to create an environment of peace and justice in our workplaces and homes. Let us look closely around us and resolve to take a little step forward
FABRE, another year, has tried to contribute to this peace and human development. This is what you will find in the pages you hold in your hands. Each project carries the impulse of many, of all of you, without whose help none of what has been carried out could have been accomplished. Thank you once again for your trust and support, which make us feel supported to continue to work together for a more just world.
Wishing that you enjoy this 2024 Activity Report, we send you our kindest regards.
