Promotion of rights through universal, equitable, and sustainable access to drinking water in the municipality of Colpa Bélgica (departament of Santa Cruz, Bolivia)

This takes place in the municipality of Colpa Bélgica, where 1,176 Guarani indigenous people live. The neighborhood lacks a drinking water service regularly, and the town is supplied water only for 2 hours a day through a home network, so water is stored in plastic drums, which implies a very high incidence of water-borne infectious diseases. With this project a drinking water distribution system will be built (consisting of 1 30,000-liter tank, extension of the water mains network, and household water connections), benefiting 100% of households in the neighborhood permanently. In addition, a Water Committee will be set up, and workshops on hygiene, promotion of the Right to Water, and disease prevention will be held, for which medical brigades will also be organized in the neighborhood.
