Ivory Coast

The overall objective of the project was to improve the health situation in the village of M’Batto-Bouaké which is located 35 km to the east of Abidjan, on the shore of Potou Lagoon in southern Ivory Coast. The existing infrastructures in the Centre de Rencontres et d’Education Rurale Ilomba were optimized to expand the capacity, both in terms of quantity as well as quality, of healthcare attention given out by the dispensary of that center. The dispensary was equipped so that illnesses which previously had to be referred to public health centers in the city for lack of means could be diagnosed and treated. Thanks to this undertaking, the dispensary offers service to a population of 12,000 people distributed in 13 villages in a radius of 10 kilometers. It functions six days a week attending 8,100 consultations annually at affordable prices as well as providing free preventative medicine campaigns.

Costa de Marfil

El objetivo general del proyecto era mejorar la situación sanitaria en Aldea M’Batto-Bouaké situada a 35 Km. al este de Abidjan, al borde de la laguna Potou, al sur de Costa de Marfil. Se optimizaron las infraestructuras existentes en el Centre de Rencontres et d’Education Rurale Ilomba para aumentar la capacidad de atención sanitaria prestada en el dispensario de dicho centro, tanto cuantitativa como cualitativamente. Se equipó el dispensario de modo que en él pueden ser diagnosticadas y tratadas enfermedades que hasta entonces tenían que ser desviadas a centros de salud públicos de la ciudad por falta de medios. Gracias a esta actuación, el dispensario presta ahora su servicio a una población de 12.000 habitantes, distribuidos en 13 aldeas en un radio de 10 kilómetros. Funciona 6 días a la semana realizando un total de 8.100 consultas anuales a precios asequibles y campañas de medicina preventiva gratuitas.
