Activity in Peru is strengthened

In 2020 the Project “Promoted the right to food in the peasant communities of Cuchayo and Mostazas, Ayabaca” began, having ESCAES as a local counterpart and the financing of the Junta de Castilla León.

In it, the Holders of rights, obligations, and responsibilities were allied in an Operational Strategy with Peru’s commitments to achieve inclusion, poverty and hunger reduction, gender equality, and the achievement of a sustainable lifestyle in line with the SDGs and the 2030 Agenda, specifically focused on the assistance of the population of the six Communities of the Cuyas Cuchayo and Mostazas communities. The aim was to continue consolidating the advance achieved in the first stage of the project in the same area of intervention. This new project provides a coherent and viable response to the most deeply felt problems of the population in terms of food security and, in general, their inadequate living conditions, due to their situation of poverty, limited presence of the State, inadequate habitability and sanitation conditions, scarce participation and empowerment of women, subsistence farming production basically oriented to their own consumption. This intervention will serve 220 families and has 3 components:

  • Improved women’s participation in the local socio-economic development, exercising their social, economic and political rights in coordination with the SDGs. (Sustainable Development Goals).
  • Diversified and increased farming production with the implementation of 6 agro-ecological practices, managed with gender and environmental perspective.
